Iowa to receive 31 million in impounded highway funds
Iowa will get 31 million in federal highway funds released from impoundment by President Ford. Transportation Director Victor Preisser said the funds cover already completed projects and free money that would have paid off those projects. Nebraska will receive 15 million, with Iowa likely to gain about 25 million more to complete its share. Preisser noted Iowa used accounts receivable to secure the release after discussions with the Federal Highway Administration.

Secretary of State Henry Kissinger arrived in Riyadh to discuss Middle East peace talks and long term oil price agreements with King Faisal. Reports say a major oil producer expressed interest in an agreement to lower sale prices below 11 dollars a barrel as current prices hover between 10 and 11.
