A bag containing about 600 dollars vanished from the night depository at Farmers Savings Bank Kalona over the weekend. The bag was found this morning in Johnson County northeast of Kalona as investigators from the sheriff's office and FBI pursue the case.
The city sold five hundred thousand dollars in general obligation sewer construction bonds on Monday night at an average rate of 4.6879 percent. Six firms bid, described as very successful by a local official. maturities range from 1976 to 1993. The winning bidder was Carleton D. Beh Company of Des Moines.
Baxter Freese of Wellman, president of the Iowa Cattlemen's Association, announced at the Des Moines Chamber of Commerce agriculture committee meeting that he will not seek re election when his term ends later this year. Freese has led the group for three years.
The Iowa Senate voted to delay the home rule act's effective date until July 1975. The delay follows a pending Iowa Supreme Court ruling on constitutionality. Sen. James Griffin said cities are in limbo awaiting the court decision and that the one year postponement is needed.

In Des Moines a legislative clash emerged over repealing or reducing the 3 percent sales tax on food and pharmaceuticals. The Senate backs full exemption while the House leans toward a 2 percent rate cut. leaders consider suspending rules to advance the 2 percent plan.
Eight of nine European Common Market nations support Kissinger’s plan for a broader oil crisis conference with Arab oil states and importing nations. France opposes, favoring UN-led action and a go it alone approach, derailing a unified communique at the Washington Energy Conference. Nixon urged international cooperation over private deals with Mideast powers.
Property owners face 18 month levies through mid 1975 as tax rates rise for many districts while overall rates drop in most rural areas. The extended period shifts budgets and payments, with a sample 110.776 to 160.488 mill transition in Washington city and a proposed $866.64 tax on a $20 000 home.
