Alpha-Omega players bring Texas dinner theater to Washington

The United Presbyterian church plans a February 27 evening with the Alpha Omega players from the American Repertory Theater of Texas. They will perform The Diary of Adam and Eve with dinner served by Fellowship Group I. Tickets eight dollars are sold at the church office and local outlets.

Washington YMCA kicks off annual membership drive

Over 60 people attended the kickoff meeting at the Y building with Bob Luther as chairman presiding. Jerry Ridley spoke and Don Turner explained the drive mechanics. Jack Kiesey is cochairman. Future reports set meetings for Feb 17 and 21 at noon with a luncheon in the Community Room and a victory dinner on Feb 25.

The forecast calls for cloudy and mild conditions this afternoon with occasional light snow. High near 32. Tonight and Wednesday turn mostly cloudy and colder with a chance of snow flurries and lows around 20. Wednesday highs in the low to mid 20s. Iowa House approves elderly lifetime hunting fishing licenses

The Iowa House passed a measure allowing residents aged 65 or older to buy lifetime hunting or fishing licenses for 7.50 dollars, or 10 dollars for a combined license, in a 75 to 15 vote. Opponents warned of lost conservation funds and proposed income limits or free licenses, but failed.
