Two burglars captured after a one hour gun battle with police in Albia. Larry Jack Smith 22 Eddyville surrendered inside a broken store. Robert Larry Miller 21 Albia fled but was later found hiding in his car. They had stolen 337 dollars from an automobile supply firm. Authorities aided by Wapello and Appanoose counties.

Columbus Junction Man Dies After Iowa City Hospital Stay
William G. Lewis 83 of Columbus City died at 4 p.m. Wednesday Feb 10 1959 at University Hospital Iowa City after a recent operation. Funeral services are pending at Stacy Funeral Home. He was born January 6 1876 near Columbus Junction and was a retired farmer. Surviving are brother Walter Lewis of Columbus City two sisters Maude Evans Winfield and Jennie Kerr Mediapolis.

Probe continues into Little Rock High bombing case

Boy Survives Tumbling Run Through a Sewer Tube
Eight year old Virgil Swartwood plunged into a six foot sewer tube connected to Lake Erie. He rode the rushing water for about twenty minutes before a disposal plant worker pulled him from the icy current. Doctors revived him and he remained in good condition with shock and exposure.

A five man revolutionary tribunal sentenced 104 counter revolutionary plotters to prison for 3 to 30 years in Cuba's biggest conspiracy trial under Fidel Castro. Decreasing clouds and winds tonight, partly cloudy and very cold Thursday night into Friday with mostly cloudy conditions and a break in the chill.
