Berlin February 11 Siemens Tal ske and Schuckert Electricel plan a merger subject to stockholder approval. The new limited liability firm named Siemens Schuckert Works will have 2250 000 capital, absorb factories and assets, exclude sub companies, and take over operations in April. Both firms pool extensive German electrical works and may align prices.
Leavenworth Kan February 11 Late Monday after John Benton Blanton a private in Company C Sixth Infantry stationed at Fort Leavenworth who is a prisoner in the guard house while under the influence of a drug refused to obey a trivial command of First Sergeant Knox Company E and then struck him The sergeant raised his gun and struck the prisoner on the head knocking him unconscious Blanton did not regain consciousness and there are no hopes for his recovery.
Alfred Updike died in Jackson Michigan on February 11 after a brief illness from apoplexy. He was a passenger engine operator during the 1870s strike on the Michigan railroad and refused to haul ammunition, ending his service. He later worked as traveling engineer for the Chicago Burlington and Quincy and was employed by the Michigan railroad commissioner.

Terre Haute Indiana February 11 F Kelley the express messenger injured in the Vandalin wreck west of the city Saturday night died at St Anthonys hospital Monday night. The remains will be taken to Pasingham. Charles McKee one of the passengers at St Anthony s cannot recover. The engineer and fireman were killed outright.
Charles Sowers was arrested in Marion Indiana on an Ohio City warrant for burglary and arson. He allegedly boarded with a woman, used a ruse to enter her room, started a fire to distract her, then stole $24 from the room.
