An Iowa legislative committee found that agriculture secretary Clyde Spry issued a P-60 salt base anti freeze license in 193? that violated state law and was unsound scientifically. The panel urged further probes by the state bureau of criminal investigation and noted the investigation was hindered by political pressure. Spry revoked the license in December after the interim committee’s recommendation.

Rev J A Cochran an 81 year old Baptist minister died at his East Second Street home at 2 10 this morning after illness since Thanksgiving. Funeral services will be held at the Baptist church here Sunday at 1 30 and again at 3 30 in Lockridge. Burial will be in Lockridge cemetery with IOOF lodge in charge. Survivors include his wife a son Joseph A Cochran a step daughter and three daughters plus 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

FBI agents captured Kenneth Kitts, the 35 year old bank robber and jail escapee, while he slept in a tourist cabin near Omaha. He had dyed his hair, grown a mustache, and was unarmed and asleep in his underwear when seized after a 17 day flight from justice.
