Income Tax Amendment Up Monday
Iowa lawmakers adjourned to Monday when the House will take up a companion income tax amendment. It would keep a 50 percent tax levy until the treasury surplus hits 15 million dollars, with Gov. Blue backing the plan. The measure also includes a related bill authorizing 160 percent collection only after certification of an emergency by appropriations and ways and means committees.

Decrease Seen In Meat Supply Across Nebraska and Iowa
Omaha Daily Journal Stockman reports a survey of Iowa and Nebraska farm readers showing a 17.4 percent drop in cattle on feed in Nebraska and a 4.8 percent decline in Iowa. Spring pig production is expected to rise about 4 percent in Nebraska and 3 percent in Iowa, contradicting USDA forecasts. Not a feeder in either state believed more cattle on feed than last year.

A 14 year old girl Mary Reardon confessed to shooting and killing her father J Vincent Reardon a wealthy paint manufacturer after he found her with a boy at a tourist camp in Missouri. The coroner said she claimed she fired when asked for the pistol and did not know how many times she pulled the trigger.

John H. Hays funeral services were held at Sherman’s funeral home led by Rev. W. L. Clapp. Pallbearers included K. E. Buck Dr V. Mason G. C. Springman and George Williams with Brown also serving as pallbearer. Elm Grove Cemetery burial followed. Two sisters aged nearly 90 and over 80 could not attend. Miss Doolittle, age 92, long a Washington academy and high school teacher, spent most of her life here.

Judge J G Patterson yesterday adjourned district court in the H J Schoonover versus Rock Island railroad case to Monday afternoon. Evidence for the plaintiff was completed and one defense witness had been examined when the court adjourned. Jurors were ordered to report at two.
