Colonel Charles A. Lindbergh completed his Latin America goodwill flight at Havana's Flyingfield at 3 56 p m today. He departed Port au Prince Haiti at 6 35 a m, flying the 720 mile leg despite a leaky valve and staying ahead of his planned schedule.
Col. Charles A. Lindbergh left Port au Prince at 6 35 a m on the final leg toward Havana Cuba after a two day goodwill tour. He described a circuitous 720 mile route along Cuba s coast before landing at Havana by about 4 p m local time. He noted a leaky valve in the plane but laughed it off saying it would be fixed in Havana.
At the Legion post meeting in City Hall rooms yesterday evening a committee was named to study buying the Second United Presbyterian church property from trustees. The panel will review original price remodeling costs upkeep and other details before a decision. Preston Wolf outlined plans for an indoor carnival to be held on the 24th and 25th with no gate charge but paid attractions. The post also voted against sponsoring a home talent play this winter and will not conduct strictly military funerals though pallbearers and a bugler may be provided on request due to many members lacking uniforms.

Washington high school defeated University High of Iowa City 58 1 2 to 31 1 2 in a dual indoor meet. McDaniel led Washington with 17 points, Kay of University High added 13. Events included sprints, hurdles, distance races, jumps, and throws with competitive times for the season.
Judge Charles A. Dewey of Washington Iowa will take the oath as federal judge for the southern Iowa district in Des Moines at 4 p m today. Nick F Reed, clerk of the court, will administer the oath.
The Senate released the text showing France’s obligations under the League of Nations are exempted from the operation of the Franco American arbitration treaty. The document was made public today.
Wiches and coffee were served by the eats committee at the close of the business session.
Col Lowden filed his petition to enter Illinois Republican primary marking the start of an active campaign phase. Buck said Lowden will not actively campaign in primaries but seeks a broad bloc of votes outside Cook County. preparations to file in other states proceed as observers note Hoover support and Midwest farm state potential.
Dr Bowers urged preparation drawing on the ten virgins from Matthew in a sermon at the Methodist church. He linked biblical figures to daily life, warned against unpreparedness, and urged integrity and faithfulness to God. Mr Shuster closed with the song Would You Believe.
James K. Young died at eleven o'clock this morning at his home 302 South Marion avenue after more than two years of heart ailment. He is survived by his widow four daughters Mrs Fred Neefc Wanger Mrs P J Wallace of Washington Mrs Joe Hunt of Storm Lake Iowa and Mrs R C DuBois of Chicago and two grandchildren Mrs George Navy and Miss Vandaline Neiswanger. Funeral plans not finalized this afternoon likely Saturday.
Mrs. Helen Kirk matron at the Plainfield state boys school was critically injured in an assault by Anson Hafer 16 an escaping inmate Hafer admitted the attack and was charged with assault with intent to kill Hafer fled by taxi and was recaptured near Brazil Indiana Hafer had previous incorrigibility sentence and was returned to custody.
J C F Wead and John Donaldson, Civil War veterans active with I G Whitepost G A R, were honored in a memorial service yesterday in the court house G A R room. Daughters of Veterans led the event with talks, a vocal solo, and a memorial poem, as the post charter was draped in their honor.
The Los Angeles case against William Edward Hickman rests after the state rested its evidence in the Marion Parker slaying. Parker testified of the ransom letters and the kidnapping, describing the moment he found his daughter’s body in the gutter. Defense and prosecution schedule opening and closing arguments and dispute the trial timeline as jurors prepare to hear final pleas.
The Presbyterian church men held their annual pancake supper with maple syrup and coffee served by the young men. Prof H E Case was thanked for starting the event though ill and missed. Six trustees met with Miss Alice Rownd to discuss funding and property needs for launching the Washington Home for the Aged. They urge gifts to reach two to three thousand dollars to enable purchase of a suitable site and operating start.

In Mexico City February reports indicate the government is concentrating forces in Jalisco and Guanajuato to crush rebel activity. War Minister Joaquin Amaro directs operations in Los Altos Guanajuato as rebels flee from Jalisco, with trains attacked and battles near Pilhuamo leaving fourteen rebels dead and five captured and executed. A Manzanillo train was fired on by rebels, five passengers wounded, and federal bombers dispersed the attackers.
Reports from Managua over the past 24 hours say General Sandino's rebel army increases activity. An appeal was made to the British chargé d affaires to protect British subjects at Matagalpa, a key coffee district. rebels were said to threaten Matagalpa with more than 500 followers and the main force near Jinotega with a rapid capture expected.
The case will go to the jury for a verdict after final arguments, with the fate of The Fox hanging on their decision. Attorneys presented closing statements as the trial nears its end, setting up a possible verdict tomorrow.
Governor Ed Jackson and two co-defendants faced arraignment in Indianapolis as Jackson pled not guilty to conspiracy to conceal a $10,000 bribe offer to then Governor Warren T. McCray. Separate trials granted for Coffin and Marsh. jury selection began amid scrutiny of Klan ties and related testimony.
