Gov Vic Donahey warned that state militia could be sent to southeastern Ohio if rioting between union and non union miners continues. The alert followed a Florence mine protest near St. Clairsville with about 200 strikers. Bricks were thrown, houses damaged, and a man fired into the mob after hours of clashes with officers. In Pittsburgh area, police tried to disperse striking miners at Crescent mine near California Pa, shots were fired and a trooper injured.

Funeral for Amos Durst set Tuesday at I A Jones
Funeral services for Amos B. Durst who died Sunday afternoon at 12 30 will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o clock at the I A Jones funeral home with Dr W W Bowers in charge. Interment will be in Elm Grove cemetery. Durst aged 87 was a lifelong resident of Jackson township and Washington. He married Eva Bush in 1886 and is survived by a widow two brothers and a sister with two siblings deceased. Durst was a quiet farmer who attended Washington Methodist church.
