Salinger Libel Suit Over Editorial on Iowa Supreme Court
Des Moines February 6 A $10,000 libel action filed by B J Salinger judge of the Iowa Supreme Court alleges malicious intent in a February 27 1917 editorial by Lafayette Young. The piece criticized court methods and suggested judges live apart from politics with bedroomed quarters in the state house. Salinger denies leading the campaign for another bench member and denies sleeping quarters in the state house. Young says the ruling was years old and framed as public policy rather than mischief.
