Car truck crash injures three near Wayland
Three people were taken to Washington County Hospital after a Friday afternoon collision on Wayland road south of Washington at 3 p m. William R. Schantz of Mt. Pleasant suffered facial cuts chest injuries and a broken knee for his wife facial cuts. Gilbert J. Cavin of Washington sustained facial cuts and leg injuries. Patrolman Jim Richart said Schantz pulled back onto the road after wheels left the ditch causing the crash as Cavin’s truck owned by Farmers Feed and Supply Co slid 84 feet to avoid impact. The Schantz car was nearly demolished and truck damage was about 800 dollars.

A masked man with a long barreled gun robbed Holst Hotel night clerk Mrs. Wallie McConnell in Boone. Lester Holderness age 37 of Iowa City was sentenced to one year in jail after pleading guilty to assault with intent to do great bodily injury for beating his 30 month old stepson Michael Clumford.
