Doctor believed victim of robber in motel stabbing
Overland Park Kansas. Sioux City Iowa physician Dr George Rowney 50 a gynecologist was found slain in a Holiday Inn Motel room. His belt was tied tight around his neck his feet bound with electric cord and he was stabbed more than 20 times the weapon described as similar to an ice pick. Police said they could not yet determine if death came from stab wounds or strangulation. Rowney’s wallet was missing and his trousers pockets were turned inside out. He was in town for seminars at the University of Kansas Medical Center near Kansas City Kansas.
