Family project spreads clothing to snowbound Indians
In Clear Lake Iowa a community clothing drive grew from a family effort into a statewide push that sent 1023 pounds of warm garments to snowbound Navajo and Hopi communities on a Arizona reservation via Air National Guard transport. Riverside Man Receives 16 Year Prison Term
Loren Patrick Walsh of Riverside was sentenced to 16 years in Fort Madison for manslaughter after admitting a car strike killed two Riverside girls, Linda Sue Simon 12 and Mary Jane Gerot 11, on November 18. He received two consecutive eight-year terms plus fines and an OMVI term. County Attorney Ira Morrison presented the case in district court in Washington.
