Aaron Homer Byington of Norwalk Connecticut died at his son Stewart’s home in Flushing in his 85th year after a week of illness. Born July 23 1826 in Herkimer New York he moved to Norwalk as a youth and joined the Norwalk Gazette later owning and serving as editor publisher for sixty years. He helped nominate Lincoln as a delegate to the 1860 convention and served as a wartime correspondent in Washington with ties to the White House. After the war he joined Charles A Dana to publish the New York Sun and later sold his stake.
