Conrad Kern of Walnut Township near Brighton was instantly killed Monday afternoon when a falling tree crushed him. The 64 year old had chopped one tree and the second tree fell awry, trapping him. His son John found him under the fallen timber. He leaves a wife and a large family.

Also birth announced a baby girl for Mr and Mrs G Logan Payne.
Judge Dewey presided over a special hearing on the Winter estate with John Dodds named administrator and Father Jacobsmeier of St. James Catholic Church as guardian. Hollingsworth, uncle of the children, urged against the guardianship, and the matter was continued until Saturday next.
