Clarinda police and Page county officers arrest Elroy McKeever and Lee Bostetter with Bostetter’s wife for the murder of a Johnsburg Minnesota storekeeper during a holdup. The suspects are to be returned to Minnesota today for trial.
Clinton Garrus Schroeder Jr., seven, died from injuries after a Thursday sled crash against a truck. He was hurt while coasting on an unprotected street despite several streets being set aside for sledding.
Two injunction suits halt progress on Ottumwa's proposed half million dollar viaduct and bridge. The project had been tentatively approved by the Iowa highway commission and the city council ten days earlier.
Davenport judge cites Iowa motto Our liberties we prize and our rights we will maintain in dismissing Clarence Soehrn charged with possessing improperly labeled liquor. He notes personal liberty and compares state authority to stopping autos at the government bridge and inspecting a pedestrian.

After a five day recount the three judge contest court ruled Boyd Foster a Democrat as winner of the county supervisor race over R. E. Brown by eleven votes. Brown gained 19 votes in the dispute while 13 ballots were rejected as illegible. The final tally for Foster was 8 172 to 8 161 with 41 fourth ward Brown votes uncounted earlier. Foster will join the board next month, making three Democrats on the panel.

State agents and local police raided three Davenport night clubs seizing about 1200 dollars of liquor stamped as Iowa state store product. Three operators Henry Behn Walter Weise and William McKighlin were arrested and to be arraigned Monday at Bettendorf Heinies Place Harrison Street grill and Macs Tavern. A prior United Press report noted beer joints bought liquor from state stores and sold by the drink for large profits.
Berlin reports Miss Elsa Littell, 25, of New York, was to be arraigned in Frankfurt on a charge of slandering Premier Hitler. Her hearing will decide if she remains under arrest or is paroled pending trial. She was arrested after allegedly saying Hitler was of Jewish descent.
A humorous DeMolay mayor's court fined citizens who paid 14.20 to the DeMolay treasury and bought dance tickets raising 33 for the Amos chapter boys' day. Mayor Watson presided as Glenn Mace led the event with Orville Hardin and others cited for small fines and smoking in court.
Iowa counties cities and school districts will receive more than 2 million dollars from the state sinking fund within ten days. Washington county to gain 27471 dollars and Washington independent school district 32652 dollars amid a broader $8.5 million warrants sale and plan to refund earlier fund advances.
