Witness before the senate Mexican investigating committee labeled Miguel Avila a notorious purveyor of forged papers for William Randolph Hearst. Frank G. McLaughlin of EL Sol Petroleum testified that the traffic in documents is a Mexico City business and that Avila is a surveyor of such documents.

Martin M. Yockey Dies at Mason City Odd Fellows Home

Martin Melville Yockey died last night at the Odd Fellows home in Mason City after years of paralysis. The body will be brought to Wellington with funeral arrangements pending. He was a carpenter, longtime resident, and active Washington Odd Fellows member. He leaves three sisters Mrs Belle Huskins Wilburton Oklahoma Mrs George Robinson Fairfield and Mrs Nettie Waterman Fairfield.

Two Christmas Days Celebrated in Washington

Christmas was celebrated twice in Washington this year with sunny mild weather. Sunday and Monday enjoyed clear skies and temperatures from 46 to 24 degrees, and many Washington Country Club members relaxed on the golf course. The season featured large distributions of Christmas baskets and gifts across the community.

J Dent Wilson of Eddyville and Beth Madaline Huff man of Wellman wed at the court house along with Cecil W Davison of Keota and Edith B Emde of Wellman Levi Blanchard of Washington and Helen G Jones of Washington where licenses were issued amid a batch of civil registrations.

Christmas Boozing Claims Five Lives in Chicago

Five persons died and about twenty were hospitalized from acute alcoholism after Christmas celebrations in Chicago. Poison liquor caused four deaths, while a man who had been drinking toppled a stove leading to another fatality. Nearly 200 people were jailed for drunkenness, and a known death list from the holiday liquor tally reached sixteen. Six men and three women died at Bellevue Hospital overnight and yesterday.

Funeral of C A Davidson Held in Washington

Funeral services for Charles Albert Davidson were held at 2 30 PM at L A Jones funeral home. Rev A A Vinz of the Baptist church conducted the service and burial took place in Elm Grove Cemetery. Davidson, born May 28 1870 in Butler county Pennsylvania, died after a heart illness. Survived by widow Corda Belle Jacobs Davidson and four daughters Mrs Ben Ward Mrs Ellis Scott Iona and Mrs Frank Dagle and one daughter at home seven grandchildren two brothers and one sister. He had worked fifteen years in road work for Washington county and was a respected employee and member of the Christian church and Modern Woodmen lodge.

Christmas Program at Christian Church Presented

The Christmas program at the Christian Church featured a hymn Tell me the Story of Jesus, readings by Nita Haney and Lois Spinler, a play No Room In The Inn with Joseph Charles Goodin and Mary Mane Jackson, and Santa Claus readings. Mrs Ed Mayhew and Mrs L A Foss managed the event.

Injured Driver Reunites After Runaway Team Wrecks Wagon

Roy R. Gordon sustained cuts and bruises when his team bolted west of town, tipping a wagon of corn into a ditch and tossing the driver into a fence. Passersby carried him to town for treatment and the team and wagon were later retrieved.

Mrs Evangeline Lodge Lindbergh plans to depart for the United States shortly after her son Col Charles A. Lindbergh lifts off on his Central American tour aboard the Spirit of St. Louis. The Ford plane will fly via Tampico, San Antonio, Indianapolis and Detroit, carrying a fruit basket for Henry Ford. Lindbergh spent time at Valbuena field with embassy staff and Mexican officials aboard tour flights.

Exonerate Driver in Aged Woman Death

Herman Peters of Hinton was cleared by a coroner's jury in Sioux City over the death of Mrs. Pred Olson of Sioux City. Olson, 82, was struck by Peters' car, which he said he could not stop in the icy road after being blinded by another vehicle's headlights. The woman suffered a fractured skull broken jaw crushed chest and multiple injuries.

Girl Cries As Sweetheart Hangs Self Near Davenport

Police search for a girl who cried as Leroy Larkin, 23, hanged himself to a boxcar in Davenport Iowa. A night watchman heard the cries and found the body suspended from a belt to a band rail. The girl who quarreled with him after a Christmas Eve dance had disappeared.

Hickman Is Returned to Los Angeles
