Tragedy at Wallingford crossing claims two lives
An inquest will be held today into the deaths of John Heidecker age 35 and Bill Ellis age 60 of Wallingford Ir who were killed when a Rock Island train struck their truck while hauling wood at a crossing south of Wallingford. Coroner Fred Ternberg said the men likely saw the approach and braked but the truck slid onto the tracks.

Powers announces no inductions at Camp Dodge before Christmas

Butcher Six Hogs After Car Hits Them
Rodney Redliner, 15, struck six hogs on an oiled road near Wellman while driving to school. The hogs owned by Jake Snyder were crippled and were butchered. Woman Fatally Burned in Electric Iron Fire
Mrs. Sarah Welch age 75 died in an Osage hospital from burns after she tried to extinguish flames in bedding caused by an electric iron placed in her bed. Her clothing ignited as she fought the fire. She lived with niece Mamie Moe in St Ansgar.

No Stickers for Cars in County

William M. Custer Dies After Stroke at Hospital
William M. Custer, age 67, died at 12:30 today at Washington county hospital after suffering a stroke last Thursday. Funeral services are set for Saturday at 2 PM at L. A. Jones funeral home with burial in Elm Grove Cemetery. Born December 25, 1875, south of Washington, he was a former Idaho cowboy and a Washington teamster. He married Nettle Hamm on June 11, 1902. she survives along with nieces and nephews. He was the last of his father's family.

She lived in Living Lake area and belonged to Living Lake United Presbyterian church before transferring to Washington church. Surviving: seven children including Rev R F Galloway of Bristow Oklahoma and Earl C Galloway of Garden City Kansas and Mrs Lloyd Walker Irwin.
