Georgia legislature files a protest over Congress proposed direct election of senators, arguing the method violated Article 6 and state rights. The joint committee calls the move unconstitutional, pledging to push the protest to governors nationwide while gauging other states' reactions.
Detroit December 25 Gov Osborn declares he will no longer ride in automobiles or horses deciding to walk and enjoy nature. He has given away his seven passenger touring car limousine and his riding and driving horses to close friends. The move creates a big sensation in Michigan political social and business circles.
Paris reports an aeroplane collision near Villa Coublay endangering the life of Le Delcasse's son aboard a monoplane piloted by Georges Collardeau. A lever miscue caused the crash injuring Delcasse junior, Collardeau, and the second pilot, who may have died.
Washington December 23 President Taft is expected to veto the bill to restrict immigration of aliens citing the literacy test as ineffective to exclude undesirables.
