C L Fitch of Iowa State College reports vigorous healthy potatoes in 1919 while weak seed yielded as low as 60 bushels per acre and strong seed topped 200 bushels. Certified disease free seed performed best and poor seed proved costly. Due to heat and drought most 1919 crops will be poor seed for 1920. The college plans to distribute about 150 pound lots of northern certified seed at cost for 1920 plantings for 1921 harvest.
