Father and Four Children Die in Gasoline Fire Tragedy
In Taylorville Illinois a farmer and three of his 14 children were burned to death when gas was poured into a car tank and a nearby lantern ignited the gasoline. The mother Mrs. Mary Clare Clark 16 and three other children were seriously burned. Charles Clark 45, Cecil 11, James 6, and Virginia 12 died. Charles Jr 15 was filling the tank when the lantern sparked the blaze. Two gasoline drums exploded enveloping the family in flames as neighbors and the infant Larry five months old survived with minor injuries.

Don Knight's Mother Injured in Maquoketa Car Crash
Mr and Mrs Don Knight visited Clinton to see Myrtle Whitehelp of Maquoketa a Mercy hospital patient after an automobile collision two miles north of Maquoketa Thursday evening. Mrs Whitehelp suffered multiple injuries including a fractured right shoulder mangled left wrist and hand a bruised jaw and chin gash. Companion Oscar Flynn of Maquoketa was killed in the crash. The Knights planned to spend the next day in Clinton.
