Three Die in Iowa Weekend Accidents

Three people died in Iowa over the weekend from accidents. A Rockwell City couple perished after a two car crash near Rockwell City, while their son and daughter in law remained hospitalized. Stewart Pupils Stage Christmas Story Play

Stewart school pupils presented the annual Christmas program to a capacity crowd in the auditorium. Phyllis Brown read the Christmas story as matron of an orphans home while five scenes depicted the orphans imaginings. Carolers from grades one through six performed between scenes and solos and a trio highlighted the program directed by Miss Cora Bailey.

Weekend snows made highways slick fueling numerous accidents. Illinois reported 17 deaths the worst toll in the nation. Washington Public Students Begin Christmas Vacation

Students in Washington public schools will be dismissed Wednesday afternoon December 22 for the annual Christmas break. They return Monday January 3. Only scheduled activity during the holiday is a basketball game at Muscatine on December 28.

Washington stores will stay open until 9 pm this week from Monday to Thursday for shopper convenience. On Christmas Eve Friday they close at the usual afternoon hour, and during the first four days of the week the stores will not close for the supper hour remaining open continuously until 9 pm.

Graveside Rites Today For Infant Brenda Curl

Infant Brenda Sue Curl daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard K. Curl had graveside rites at 9 30 a m in Elm Grove cemetery.
