General Chang Shou Tseng, a military leader, was appointed premier with almost unanimous approval from Parliament in Pekin. Supported by Teao Kun and backed by military influence in sixteen provinces, the selection signals a move to resume military control of China.
Denver police and federal guards pressed a city and federal manhunt after bandits stole two hundred thousand dollars in currency from a Federal Reserve truck in front of the Denver mint. Veterans of the civil war and their widows and nurses likely will receive a Christmas pension boost under the Burton bill. The Senate passed it last summer and the house during the regular session. Pensions rise from 50 to 75 for veterans, widows from 30 to 56, and nurses from 30 to 50.
