Heavy shellings hit 13 Vietnamese cities and bases
In a Tuesday report, Communist forces shelled 13 cities towns and allied bases nationwide as South Vietnam’s premier Tran Van Huong warned of a 30,000-man offensive. About 600 Viet Cong had been seized in Saigon in two months. The Tam Ky outpost faced a heavy 45 round barrage and a two point assault. South Vietnamese troops repelled the attack, killing four on the city’s outskirts. Allied fortifications were light and most night attacks lasted moments with light overall casualties.
