Noted bidding blunder in 1955 European Bridge Championship

In Amsterdam 1955 Germany vs Switzerland, a high profile mis bid led to a doomed three diamonds contract after aggressive overcalls and doubles. The Swiss defense yielded a four hundred point swing, though Germany’s North-South suffered a worse outcome. Dr Oster’s quip to dummy marked the hand. Switzerland lost 1,300 points in the end.
