The Comrades Sunday School Class of West Chester United Methodist Church held its annual Christmas party at the church Friday night. Mr and Mrs Lloyd Bauer and Mr and Mrs Robert Stephens provided Christmas entertainment with each family contributing something. A food shower was given the minister and his family.
Washington post office to stay open all day Saturday December 21 to assist with late Christmas mailings and stamp sales.
The Christian Women's Fellowship of the Christian Church held gatherings on Wednesday evening and Friday afternoon. Hostesses included Mrs. Dayton Crim Mrs. Leonard Llewellyn Mrs. Dale Doggett Mrs. Hal Hotle and Mrs. Carl Dallemeyer. Leaders taught How We Work with Other Denominations. Worship themed Why Don't We explored ecumenical mission ventures in the community.
The Interact Club held a dinner at Captain's Table to discuss future projects. Members were assigned to investigate ideas including a flag selling drive to foster patriotism and a spring cleanup campaign. next meeting is January 8.
Kalona residents Mahlon and Mrs Mahlon Schlabaugh celebrate sixty years of marriage with an open house on Sunday December 22 from 1:30 to 4 at the Farmers Savings Bank community room in Kalona. The couple married Dec 17, 1908 in the Schlabaugh home. They have seven children Ralph Delmar Omar Emil Idella Breneman Barbara Schlabach and Gladys, twenty-one grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
