Mysterious strangers arrive today in Chefoo and proceed to the Russian Consulate. They are not disposed to talk, leaving officials and onlookers puzzled by their purpose and status.
Seven Russians in civilian dress with military bearing arrived today in an open sail boat, carried dispatches, and went to the Russian consulate. A north wind aided their swift passage from Port Arthur, while other items cover political moves and post office investigations.
Mon Lot a 57 year old Chinese national in the United States for thirty years faced deportation by United States Commissioner Bo E. Babbitt for lacking valid papers. He admitted no money and requested return to China to be with his wife and children during the Chinese New Year. The decision to deport was influenced by his lack of documents despite his stated intent to go home.
Revenue agents destroyed a large moonshine still on Otter creek in Larue county near Gleanings post office. The operation had run for about ten years. Cattle 3000 steady while sheep steady to 10 lower. Official receipts yesterday 33075 and shipments 2478 with tomorrow’s receipts around 30000.
