London reports show the king had a quiet day with some sleep yet remains exhausted and weak. medical experts total ten as two more doctors join consultations to treat the ailing monarch. moving him is considered unlikely while ray therapy is added to the regimen.
Muscatine edged Heinz Pittg with a four field basket from Barg er in a five minute overtime after a tight regular period 38 to 29. Washington led 11 to 1 at half, 20 to 16 after three. Muscatine lineup included Myers TeStrake Elkhart Burns with Hill Peters Klesey Schulty guards and Crone substitutes. A rematch with Washington MC is planned for December 19.

Miss Dorothy Detthot directed a Washington high school operetta The Gypsy Reverie showcased a large chorus in gypsy costumes and featured soloists led by Mary Louise Harwood and Charles Long The production earned praise for its trained principals robust acting and orchestral support from Milburn McKay's choir ensemble with Florence Peterson assisting as accompanist the audience response reflected strong local enthusiasm.

A Paraguayan delegation led by Dr Aligio Ayala met President-elect Herbert Hoover in Buenos Aires on December 15. They praised U S Argentine friendship, discussed the Paraguayan Bolivian boundary issue, and emphasized democratic institutions and liberty in the Americas. Hoover expressed confidence in the American experiment and the path toward peace and progress.

Machinery and equipment used for maintenance of primary roads in the county is being moved to a new structure erected south of the American Pearl Button factory by the State Highway Commission. The equipment, stored at the former garage on North Town avenue and East Third street, is under R. A. Frink who has served as the local maintenance engineer for months.
Two automobiles parked in front of a high school building were reported stolen to Sheriff Charles M Denison. A Chev sedan owned by Karl Shnapson was later found in a ditch near the county hospital. The other vehicle, a Ford touring owned by Floyd Hammill, was located on the Brighton road.
Three condemned men a Chippewa Indian and two Negroes died in Joliet State Prison electric chair for the murder of William Beck, a Lake county farmer. The first executions under the new method followed denials of clemency.
Keota business men expect a record crowd to fill the town business section on December 18 as they give away chickens ducks geese and turkeys, totaling a large number to be distributed among attendees.
Congress ends a short session week with action on the Boulder dam measure. The Senate passed the flood control irrigation and power project for the Colorado River and conferees will seek a compromise on government operation versus private hydro. The plan would raise authorization to 185 million with a federal floor and allocate water to California Arizona and Nevada. The measure, pending for years, awaits conference report before the president’s action.
The Y's Men’s club Good Fellows work reports five baskets distributed last year and notes more needy families in Washington require aid this year. Food only will be distributed. clothing toys and money were sent previously but will be omitted now. Committees plan careful budgeting and urge rapid contributions via the front-page coupon.
Charles E. Miller an Albin attorney and school board member will address Washington High School students and parents next Tuesday at 2 30 pm on the advantages of a June for college. The event is a special assembly with the student body present. Gertruda Latl daughtery from Eatons motored to Washington for shopping. In the Senate final vote was 64 to 11 after a partisan misunderstanding the bill was voted twice with an initial 61 to 16 result. The senate bill was adopted as an amendment in lieu of the house bill.
