Reds offer limited troop rotation and a new six point counter proposal in Korean cease fire talks. United Nations officers say the proposals raise questions and will be studied further to test their impact, while noting fewer than 7000 Allied prisoners and many missing in action remain.
The First Bayre church choir directed by Mrs. Paul Thayer will present The Wondrous Season cantata at the 9:45 morning worship on Sunday. Soloists include Messrs Earl Longfellow and John McGaties with Mrs. W Johnson designing nativity sets for the pageant and Mrs. Charles McConnell at the organ. Reverend Earl Longfellow urges attendance as the Christmas story Star of Bethlehem is featured in the evening service at ten o clock.
Forecast indicates ending rain and snow this afternoon with accumulations up to a few tenths of an inch. Tonight turns partly cloudy and colder with lows near zero to 16 below zero in the northwest and 0 to above in the southeast. Saturday highs range from five to 15 above zero, with continued cold conditions for the next five days and light precipitation on Monday.
Washington reports civilian manufacturers face another severe production cutback next spring as government material controls unlikely to ease until year end. Manly Fleischmann said the shortages may last longer than expected due to rising military demands, dimming hopes for early easing of steel and aluminum controls despite expanded Air Force goals.
Washington reports veteran diplomat John Stewart Ser Siew pledges to clear his name after removal from the State Department following a loyalty review board finding. Washington report says Sumner T. Pike resigned as a member of the Atomic Energy Commission effective tomorrow. He had served five years and was the sole remaining original member. Pike cited no reason in his brief letter to President Truman and thanked the president for the opportunity.
Washington reports Sen. Johnson predicts Chief Justice Fred M. Vinson will be the 1952 Democratic nominee. He says Truman likely will not seek reelection and notes Vinson is well liked and could unite the party, especially in the South, amid uprisings if Truman runs again.
The University of Iowa student council refused to censure The Daily Iowan over its handling of a sorority controversy. The council backed the paper and editor Kim McNair, noting the paper published the story after balancing both sides. A prior motion alleging suppression of news was defeated as supporters praised press judgment.
The Agriculture Department reports that farmers earned 30.0 billion dollars from January through November, a 15 percent rise from the same period last year. Cash receipts from livestock and livestock products increased 29 percent, while total farm product sales were slightly higher with prices up about 4 to 5 percent.

Democrat national chairman Frank E McKinney accused Republicans of a fear driven scramble for power in a Jackson Day fundraising rally. He defended his party against corruption charges and attacked Senator Joseph McCarthy and Robert R McCormick, urging that if Republicans stay under those leaders the party may disappear.
A Latvian worship service will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock in Washington at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Minister Tron from Des Moines will conduct the Latvian language service and invite all Latvian residents and other interested people in the area to attend.

Mt Pleasant high school team will travel for a basketball game against Everett at the local high school tonight despite heavy snow. Principal Everetts reports he confirmed Mt Pleasant officials agreed to make the trip. Tonight’s preliminary game starts at 6 30 p m with both squads scheduled to meet at 7 45 p m.
Hollywood producers Walter Wanger and his wife Joan Bennett faced a habeas corpus action after Wanger shot agent Jennings Lang outside their home. Bennett denied any romantic link to Lang as bail set at 5000 dollars. Wanger held on assault with intent to murder.
Washington VIEW post sponsors another round of dances with final event set for Friday at VEW hall. Married couples and other young adults may join via committee members or at the door. membership drive shows strong progress in the district.
Hesselschwerdt was re elected head of the Iowa River Valley Boy Scout council at the annual meeting held Thursday evening at a Mar envo hotel. Rev T C Polk of Washington was elected as one of the council ice presidents and Ford Skola of Kulona became assistant treasurer.
Stephen Hobson an instructor at the State University of Iowa will perform two numbers from Handel's Messiah during Sunday morning worship at the Presbyterian church in Washington. The Iowa City man recently sang Messiah at Waterloo and is scheduled for Muscatine Sunday afternoon in the same program.
Mid morning reports show four inches of snow in Washington Iowa and across the state with heavier falls in southern and eastern counties. Officials urge sidewalk and curb clearing around business districts while city crews begin snow removal and motorists face slippery roads though traffic remains open.
