Long burial set for Wilbur Long at Sherman's funeral home
Funeral services for Wilbur Long will be held Thursday at two oclock at Sherman s funeral home conducted by Rev Alfred Trenerry. Burial follows in Him Grove cemetery. Gilmore City Iowa December 14 1940 Mrs Alma Edgington high school principal died in a flash fire that destroyed the public school. About 3400 students were led to safety as flames ripped through the gymnasium freezing temperatures stood at nearly ten degrees below zero. Superintendent H M Granner was severely burned while aiding others and a teacher opened a door to the gym as the blaze exploded into a near total destruction.
