Land rental case upheld by Iowa Supreme Court
In a unanimous December 10 decision the Iowa Supreme Court affirmed the Washington District Court ruling for Gladys Vincent, Dale E. Vincent, and Helen Verley Greiner against Kaser Construction Co. over limestone quarry rent. The landowners leased land in 1958 for five years with a royalty per ton and a minimum $500 yearly payment when royalties fell short. The company paid for two years then refused in the third, citing lease termination upon nonpayment. The trial court sided with the landowners, a ruling the Supreme Court upheld. Attorneys Sidney and Carpenter represented Kaser Co. and Baldrige and Baldrige represented the landowners.
