Seventeen years ago yesterday Dee and Mr. Sam McCleery of Jackson Township united in marriage. As they prepare to move to town next Wednesday, about 50 friends gathered at their home to celebrate with dinner and a speech from Mrs. W. R. Beamer, and a response by W. E. Brown. The afternoon included music and jokes.
Sheriff Teeter Deputy Black and County Attorney Brookhart visited Brighton as a disturbance outside a house led to a corn knife wound and a trial clearing five men. Separately Finney faces liquor with intent to sell charges, Johnson is jailed for malicious issuing of a search warrant, and the Davison Bros. face alleged sale of insecticide fraud.
Mrs. J. B. Carris, a longtime resident and prominent family member, dies at 1 p m in Toledo at age large nearing ninety. Funeral at M E church tomorrow at 11 conducted by Rev. H H Brownell. relatives E G Carris and Mrs Harry Davis attend. Also an 1886 Hall's Catarrh Cure advertisement claims payment for cure.
Last night the council could not act on the new well bids due to no quorum. The issue may be postponed to the next regular meeting unless a special session is called by the mayor.

The remains of D. T H Armstrong arrived last evening and funeral services were held at 2 p m from J A Shields home. Rev Stark and Rev Logue conducted the rites. Interment was in the old cemetery with the G A R Post in full attendance. Survivors include nine children Melville and Samuel and others in Denver TL and Jacksonville. Born in Penn Jan 21 1828 he died in San Marcial New Mexico. The Journal extends sympathy to the family.
Ralph Corbin, a salesman from Schoolcraft Michigan, lived with his mother and stepfather here. His wife Mrs Miller fell ill with pneumonia and died last night after a period of decline. The remains will be shipped to Michigan.
