French troops in Casablanca stood combat ready as riots over Morocco's rule continued. Gen. Augustin Guillaume ordered guards at funeral services for eight Europeans and at least 30 Moroccans killed, amid calls to quell violence and curb rebellion.
President elect Eisenhower and Gen. Douglas MacArthur reportedly plan to pool military and diplomatic knowledge to end the Korean conflict. The Nippon Times cites an unimpeachable source saying they may meet in Hawaii or the U S West Coast and discuss MacArthur advising or leading U N forces in Korea. An exchange of messages aboard a cruiser Tuesday night signals reconciled political differences since MacArthur backed Taft.
Louis J Kehoe Washington attorney and state toll road committee member spoke to the U's Men club arguing a thorough study is needed because funding for engineers was lacking. He noted a minority report questions feasibility while a majority report urged no toll roads now.

A 48 year old woman in Knox County asks an assistant state's attorney to file criminal charges against her 45 year old sister claiming witchcraft is causing her legs to swell and redden. The sister denies practicing witchcraft and the accuser says she has bought a witchcraft book and reads at night. The attorney asked for a medical exam before considering charges.
A typographical error in Saturday's Evening Journal listed Ollie Livestock Exchange as on Thursday. The sale occurs every Tuesday afternoon, and buyers are urged to attend on the correct day.
Cedar Rapids authorities planned to file murder charges against Charles G. Kotek 43 in the Jover's quarrel shooting death of Pauline Kassel 32. Kotek wounded in the chest killed the young woman with a 410 gauge shotgun then killed himself. Detectives went to his home after a caller said I just shot a woman. Kassel lay on the floor as beer cans were scattered.
Marvin Lehonidt of Des Moines resigns from the Wage Stabilization Board Region Nine citing President Truman's policies to drop wage and price controls. The move follows seven national board members quitting in Washington in protest of a $1.90 daily pay raise for soft coal miners. Schmidt remains silent on miners' pay and whether it influenced his decision.
John W. Davis argued Congress and states alone hold power to authorize or abolish racial segregation in public schools. Thurgood Marshall urged the court to uphold equal rights and not defer interpretation of the Constitution. The five cases challenge the constitutionality of separate but equal in the South and limited elsewhere, with Davis noting mixed schools were not contemplated when the 4th Amendment was adopted and that 21 states still segregate or partially segregate students. South Carolina has prepared to abolish its public school system if segregation is outlawed.

Grimes of the Public Instruction Department warned districts face shortages as classrooms already issue makeshift space in stores, churches, basements and corridors.
Paul Banks of Washington announced the opening of Banks Television Technicians. The new firm will operate from the Stone Furniture Store, one door south of Lemmon's Pharmacy, offering Motorola and Arvin television and radio sales and service. Banks is a Coyne school graduate with eight years in the trade.
President-elect Dwight D. Eisenhower's message on price supports was read to over 5,000 delegates at the 84th American Farm Bureau Federation convention in Seattle. The program included speeches by John S. Coleman and Dr. Yale Brozen, with Sen Clinton Anderson and Dr. Clarence Mansion scheduled for later sessions. Eisenhower stressed that agricultural stability is essential to national welfare.
The fourth annual banquet of former Iowa State college students will be held Monday evening December 29 at 6 30 in the YMCA community room in Washington. Dean LeBaron will attend as a guest. The program includes entertainment door prizes and square dancing after dinner with arrangements led by Mrs Truman Tuttle chairwoman and a decorations team. Reservations are via Miss Collier at the county extension office.

Donald R. Flake of Muscatine was fined 100 dollars and given an eight year suspended sentence after a manslaughter arrest stemming from a September 8, 1952 crash that killed a Columbus Junction man. He was paroled to the Iowa Parole Board. In a separate case Peter N. Rich pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated, was fined 300 dollars plus costs, and had his driver license suspended for days.
