Hamburg reports a massive blast at the Kleine's Grasbrook gasometer on the Elbe front. Two tanks exploded after a leak, triggering a large fire. ten men dead and seventeen missing, many injured, with the huge 200000 cubic meter gasometer incinerating several workers. City spent 3.5 million dollars on the structure.
H. Clay Pierce is acquitted of false swearing in Austin Texas after the judge ruled him immune from trial under Texas law. The Waters-Pierce Oil, Security Oil, Navarro Refining, and Union Transfer Line properties were sold at public auction to various buyers including W. Fordyce and associates of St. Louis and John Sealey of Galveston to settle anti trust and ouster actions.

Marshalltown Iowa December 8 610 employees from Albert Lea to Peoria receive wage increases of 1 to 2 cents and improved shop conditions as management and shop men committee sign new schedules through the Iowa Central railway.
New York December 8 John Drew the actor was thrown from his horse while riding with his daughter in Central Park. The horse trampled him as he lay on the ground and a passing car stopped to rush him to Presbyterian Hospital. Doctors reported a severe fracture of the left shoulder and possible internal injuries.
Iowa Attorney General H. W. Byers urged reform at a Corn Belt Meat Producers banquet. He called for reorganizing the current railroad commission into a public utilities commission with broad power over railroads and other public service corporations, plus a department to hire counsel and experts to review corporate work.
Judge Charles E. Ransier in Independence upholds the ante nup contract of Bohle Willems estate dispute. The widow Moetje Willems, who married the decedent five years prior, loses dower and support claims and must accept $1,000 under the agreement. John Schaubert shot Emma Jantzen at 389 Carlton street twice then shot himself. Both were found alive but unconscious. Schaubert was reported to be infatuated with the 18 year old Emma Jantzen.
