Iowa man convicted of first degree murder in Colorado strike
Delmar Dean Spooner, 25, Storm Lake Iowa, was found guilty of first degree murder in the slaying of Colorado State Patrolman Li Hiram Short near Kremmling. Jurors deliberated five hours and 15 minutes and recommended life imprisonment. Short was killed July 12 and Eagle County Undersheriff John Clark died at a roadblock after a shooting spree. Spooner was captured by a nearby posse. Defense argued Spooner lacked intent.
