Des Moines reports that the Iowa State Liquor Commission prohibits liquor store managers from hanging mistletoe holly or pictures of Santa Claus in state stores. This rule restricts festive displays to comply with commission policy.
Herman Schmidt of Davenport is named president of the State University of Iowa senior liberal arts class. He is newly initiated into Phi Beta Kappa and serves as president of Union Board and the university social committee at Iowa City.
Paul Davey, of Creston, the truck driver, was blown to the ceiling at a Shenandoah filling station when a tire he was filling exploded. He suffered a broken arm but was otherwise uninjured. Davey is the son of Mr and Mrs H B Davey.
In Muscatine the stork delivered two daughters to brothers' families at Hershey hospital. At 12:30 a m a daughter Joan Weber arrived for Mr and Mrs Walter Weber. At 12:55 a m a daughter Francine Weber arrived for Mr and Mrs John Weber Jr. Both families reside in the town.
Cedar Rapids Floyd Snyder, 47, suffered severe facial and eye burns when a cloth sack containing a small amount of highly explosive powder exploded after he dropped a chisel near it. Friction is believed to have ignited the powder. Snyder did not know the sack contents and the house owners where he stays are in California.
The city council approves a bicycle ordinance requiring a free city license tag head light rear red reflector and horn or bell. Riding on sidewalks in residential districts is restricted and bikes must be parked on automobile parking spaces. Violations carry a 100 dollar fine or 30 days in jail.

Nineteen sitdown strikers and union officials were arrested in Davenport after locking gates of Kohrs cold storage plant and barricading the engine room. Police, led by Chief Sam Kelly, entered the room and took the group to headquarters for hearings on disorderly conduct.
