Minister and Wife Die in Crossing Crash
Rev. Monroe Jackson Rarick, 77, a Mitchellville retired minister, and his wife were killed Sunday morning at a railroad crossing near Ira while driving to the Methodist church. He had preached at Ira twice a month, from Mitchellville, and may not have heard the approaching Great Western train due to hearing loss. The car was hurled from the scene and dragged about 200 feet, with the train pushing it roughly 360 feet.

Doing Big Business In License Stickers
The county treasurer's office closed Saturday showing strong license sales for the new year. By Saturday night 449 automobiles, 81 trucks, one motorcycle, 49 farm trailers and 12 other trailers had been licensed since the December 1 opening. Jugenheimer Funeral Today On West Madison Street
Funeral services for Oscar Jugenheimer held at 2 PM at L A Jones funeral home with Dr F W Eastwood officiating followed by burial in Woodlawn cemetery. He died Saturday after a long illness and leaves wife Mary Skala Geret one brother Robert Jugenheimer and several nieces and nephews. He was a longtime member of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs and active in their sick and needy relief programs.

James Leonard Lemley 56 died at University Hospital Iowa City after a fall from a ladder while repairing a corn crib near West Chester. He fractured his right hip and died from the shock affecting his heart. Funeral planned at Sherman’s with Masonic and Eastern Star escorts, burial at Elm Grove Cemetery. Survivors include his mother, siblings George, H T Carris, Vivian, Monna Schlatter, and a deceased sister and infant siblings.
