Rock Island seeks over 120 million in federal aid
Rock Island filed a four part plan with the Federal Railway Administration requesting more than 120 million dollars in federal aid to fund rolling stock purchases and track rehabilitation. The plan includes 1800 cars and eight locomotives, 230 miles of track rehabilitation, and a systemwide electronic detection rollout. If approved by Judge Frank G McGarr, funds would be allocated to these projects and safety improvements.

Bodies Found Of Bedford Brothers In Taylor County
The bodies of Steven Ray Brown, 18, and Rex Eugene Brown, 19, both of Bedford, were found within about one mile of each other in rural Taylor County Iowa. Officers located Steven near Bedford shortly before noon and Rex about two hours later three quarters of a mile away. An investigation continues to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
