Red Cross Seeks 60 Dozen Cookies For Veterans Hospital

The Washington County Red Cross asks for 60 dozen individually wrapped cookies by December 7 to support Christmas activities for patients at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City. Islea Schulty apologized for short notice, noting a changed local quota schedule. In Ainsworth, the post office window extends hours to 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through December 23, including three Saturdays.

Salvation Army canvassers to visit Washington for donations

Two men charged in Washington truck theft

Two inmates from Riverview Release Center, Newton, were arrested in Mt Pleasant after a weekend furlough during which they allegedly stole a 1972 pickup owned by Mr. and Mrs. Callistus Kern of Washington. Gary Fenton and Roger Starr were bound over to the grand jury on larceny charges.

County Attorney Opens Washington Office at 221 West Main

County Attorney Tracy Anderson establishes his office in Washington at 221 West Main St in the courthouse area.
