Bridgewater will vote September 21 on a bond issue of 11200 to establish a waterworks system. The total project cost is estimated at 20000 with a WPA grant sought to cover forty five percent of the expense.
Sheriff Earl Gibson reports at least five country school houses were stripped of lightning rods in the past week. Suspects hitch the rod and ridge pole to a car, pulling away with the equipment. In other news, Coe college president Harry M. Gage announces Dr Paul C Greene as psychology instructor for next year, succeeding retired Prof Walter S Newell.
Harvey Norman 54 of Marshalltown received a blood transfusion at Broadlawns General Hospital to treat complications from a ruptured appendix. Norman, a groom in the horse barns at the Iowa State Fair, arrived three days ago. His condition after the transfusion remained very low.
Members circulate petitions urging the Tama County Board of Supervisors to call a vote on $50,000 in bonds to erect and equip a public hospital for general public use, not a charitable institution.
Red Fleming of Burlington facing manslaughter charges in the death of 61 year old Henry Marshall of Winfield. The information was filed at Mount Pleasant before Justice James Whiting with bond set at 7500 dollars. hearing scheduled Friday morning in Henry county.
Sioux City lawyer George M Paradise sues fellow attorney Jesse E Marshall and the London and Lancashire Indemnity Co for 27000 in district court alleging injury to his profession and reputation. Paradise was the Iowa American Legion's 1937 38 legislative chairman.
