Rioting at Cambria Hosiery Mill Leaves Two Dead
In Philadelphia on August 31 during a strike at the Cambria hosiery plant a crowd of about 5000 attacked the facility. Two workers Clem Norwood and Frank Milner were killed and at least a dozen injured including two policemen and several women. Police said trucks were overturned as strikers forced entry and shots were fired into the crowd. Edith Raueli Blanche Bradbent and Sergeant Emerling were among the injured.

Reed Removed to University Hospital
Robert Reed, a St. Louis youth injured in a Crawfordsville area car wreck Monday evening, was moved by ambulance to University Hospital in Iowa City for treatment. He suffered two broken legs one near the hip, a broken collar bone, a broken rib and other injuries. His companion Joe Green was killed. Reed and Green were hitchhiking toward Iowa City to enroll in the university. Mrs Roy Heilman and daughter Arlene of Richland visited briefly with Mrs Mohtland before returning home.

Washington Band Impresses at State Fair in Des Moines
Washington Municipal band from Washington County drew large crowds at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines. The group played two pieces by K L King, received praise from composer King, and wowed attendees with broadcasts on KSO radio.
