Washington school students tested for suitable band instruments
Fifth grade students from the Washington Community School System are being tested this week for appropriate band instruments. Sixth graders who did not play last year and wish to start this year are included. Everett’s Music Store will display rentable instruments next week in the Junior High Music Room on Tuesday September 3 at 7 PM. Beginning band lessons start Wednesday September 4.

Bank Robbery Reported at Council Bluffs Branch
A holdup man brandishing a silver stub barreled revolver robbed the Westside Patio branch of the Council Bluffs Savings Bank of an undetermined amount and fled on foot. FBI agent Gary Lisotto described the suspect as a white man in his 30s who waved the gun at a teller, took money, and disappeared half a block west.

Richland donors offer site for new public library
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hendrickson of Richland buy the former Richland Clarion building and lot from Mr. and Mrs. A. Joe Kelly to donate as the site for a new Richland Public Library. The building, once a bank and later a printing shop, will be razed after January 1 to clear the lot. The chosen uptown site offers nearby parking and preserves the town’s preferred location near highway 77. Building plans are being studied by the library steering committee and council.

Two Navy Reserve Pilots Rescued Short of Hawaii

High school offers release time for juniors and seniors
Washington High School has expanded a two year old release time program to include juniors for 1974 75. Since the new year began 116 seniors and 95 juniors have opted to leave campus during free periods.
