Disabled Veteran of the Year winner Michael Johnson aims high
Michael Johnson 25 of Provo Utah, a Vietnam veteran wounded in combat, is set to receive the Disabled Veteran of the Year award in Miami on August 12 18. Raised by a mountain home, he plays basketball and works with scouts while serving as a draftsman for the Federal Bureau of Reclamation and aiding amputees at Salt Lake VA Hospital. Johnson vows not to retire from sports and dreams of a Sports Illustrated cover while continuing to mentor others despite multiple injuries.
