E E Gene Walla of St Louis Local 682 testified before the Senate Rackets Committee that the January ballot for control of St Louis Joint Teamsters Council was crooked. He said Gibbons gained seven disputed ballots from Tampa Florida carnival workers and noted questionable membership records and doctored memos in Local 447 papers.

President Eisenhower signed a farm bill lowering price supports and expanding planting freedom for 1961. Jake More testified that the Teamsters Union donated 17,500 to Loveless during the 1956 campaign. He and secretary Mary Jane Freeman said the money was deposited in Loveless for Governor accounts with no knowledge by Loveless. Drinking Gasoline Fatal Surprise for Iowa Infant
Richard Lee Seaton, 1, died after drinking gasoline from a bucket used by his father Clyde Seaton while painting a window frame in Iowa City. He was dead on arrival at Mercy Hospital. Eisenhower Signs Social Security Increase With Other Measures
President Eisenhower approved 42 bills including a 7 percent boost to Social Security and higher payroll taxes to fund it. He also signed a $53.3 billion foreign aid bill, a farm bill, and a welfare and pension funds measure, while vetoing two minor bills.
