Train service reinstated as Rock Island places No 49 and No 60 back on Washington to Oskaloosa route starting September 1. Schedules revert to previous times. cities along the line protested the removal, with Chambers of Commerce and clubs lobbying to restore service.
Rock Island motor trains between OsKaloosa and Washington will be reinstated next week restoring passenger and mail service on the former schedule. The voluntary revival follows protests by local chambers of commerce and civic groups, with No. 50 due at 8:30 a.m. and No. 49 at 4:30 p.m. local times.
The Do-X, a 60 passenger German flying boat, arrived in New York at 11 16 A M EDT from Europe after a 3 hour 1 minute flight from Norfolk Virginia. Spectators cheered as it circled Statue of Liberty then headed up the Hudson escorted by four planes.

The 77th Iowa state fair opens tomorrow on the Des Moines fairgrounds with preparations complete for a large crowd. Officials expect attendance between 60 000 and 794 000 on opening day, and the exposition runs to Sept 4 featuring 6000 plus livestock entries from many states, $70000 in premiums, crop displays, 25000 youths admitted free on day one, auto racing, and an evening amphitheater program.
Secretary Hyde announced federal loans up to 1000 per farmer for drought struck regions in the northwest including northwestern North Dakota southwestern South Dakota and counties near the Missouri river and eastern Montana. Loans require a lien on livestock and mature by October 1 1932. The drought relief plan also covers seed loans for spring planting and spans several western states.
In Marquette Michigan on August 27 four inmates attempted a prison break by force. A guard and a civilian were shot with two inmates killed by their own actions as the others surrendered. Wounded include guard Joe Cowling and trusted aide Leo Oligschlager. An investigation into how firearms were obtained is underway.
Harvey, over 50 and nearly blind yet ardent, is the first nominee of the Liberty Party for 1932. He left politics in disgust after the free silver fight and Bryan and formed the party to avert civilization's doom. His running mate is Andre B Nordshog of Los Angeles. The platform calls for a government owned banking system, free coinage of silver, and public ownership of railroads and telephones.
A secluded White House conference today in Washington brought together President Hoover and four New York bankers led by William C. Potter of Guaranty Trust and James T. Lee of Chase National. Also present were George W. Davison of Central Hanover, Charles McCain of Chase, Eugene Meyer of the Fed and Treasury Secretary Mellon. Observers see the talks as focusing on unemployment relief plans.

Gladys O'Donnell led national air race handicap pilots to a control stop at Enid Oklahoma. She moved into fourth place at Amarillo and landed at 1 33 p m after departing Amarillo at 8 a m. A strong tail wind aided the flight from Amarillo to Enid.
