Flood Waters Rise On Cedar River At La Porte City
Heavy rain pushed Cedar River to flood stage in La Porte City with water over the new paving and streets. The river rose about six inches per hour, flooding low areas and forcing water rescues at the Bagnestos home. Cedar and Wapsipinicon rivers overflowed causing basement and cellar flooding in downtown and adjoining areas.

Troopers Return From Camp Dodge by Special Train
Washington's cavalry troop of three officers and sixty enlisted men arrived yesterday afternoon by special train from Camp Dodge where they spent two weeks with Iowa guardsmen. Troop G earned second place in the regiment for general excellence. Troop F of Oskaloosa was first. The camp conditions were favorable with no sickness or major accidents and notable morale. General Poore and Col. Roberts reviewed the troops, who later paraded before Governor Hammill at the state fair followed by a horse show.

Funeral for John H. Kephart set for Tuesday afternoon
John H. Kephart died by suicide Sunday at his son’s home in Pleasant Hill. Funeral services are planned for 2:30 Tuesday at Pleasant Hill church southeast of town after initial plans at L A Jones funeral home were changed. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery. He leaves two sons Rodney and Orie, several brothers and sisters, and multiple extended relatives. He was born January 18 1873 and lived his life in the Pleasant Hill community. Mr Kephart was a member of the Moose Lodge of Washington.

Deadly Iowa Tornado Strikes Four Counties
A western Iowa tornado killed three people including a one year old near Elliott. Two others died in Kilis Potta Wattamie Cass and Montgomery counties as the storm damaged Oakland and surrounding towns. Hail and wind caused widespread crop and property damage across the region.

Infant dies of brief life in county hospital
