Local men visited for reunions and degree events, while church youth groups hosted a lawn party with lanterns and greenery and provided entertainment and refreshments.

Funeral for Mrs Isabelle Palmer Relief Corps member
Funeral services for Mrs Isabelle Palmer 76 of Keota were held at the Presbyterian church conducted by Rev W O Harper and Rev W G Nally. She is survived by four children Carrie Inlt Perry Palmer Oren and Lloyd. Burial was in Keota cemetery beside her husband Civil War veteran George Palmer. The procession included members of the Relief Corps and the service noted her church work and recent decline in health due to stomach trouble.

Bandit Suspects Held After Boone Express Heist
Cedar Rapids police report J W Wilson and W L King, Chicago men, arrested after the Boone express office robbery. They carried $5,000 in express money orders and $300 in cashable traveler’s checks, with six $100 money orders and multiple others found. Detectives tracked them from drug store purchases to a Chicago sleeper car. weapons and checks were recovered. Local police identified serial numbers on the checks.

Stolen Car Suspect Jailed in Washington County
William Ruby of Ottumwa is in the Washington county jail awaiting a preliminary hearing. A Ford stolen from a Washington business street earlier this summer was found at a local garage after being moved from Ottumwa. The car belonged to Louis Glider of Wellman and had its license numbers altered. Ruby says he purchased the vehicle.
