Reports from Managua describe fifty women seriously wounded while serving on both sides in the combat around the capital. Government tallies of noncombatants killed in Managua reach about 120, a conservative figure amid continuous fighting as U S forces monitor Corinto and rebels.
Horace E. Anderson and Athon Aggenbeck of Chicago were held on $26 000 bail for false pretense and conspiracy after a hearing before Magistrate Kirby. Norfolk Va August 26 The battleship Alabama cannot participate in fleet practice at Tangier Sound this week due to a sudden machinery disarrangement in her forward section. The big guns cannot be moved and the Alabama will be sent to Norfolk or Philadelphia for repairs. Remaining ships proceed to Tangier for target shooting limited to battleships.
