Rescue on Mountain Cliff Near Monteagle

Monteagle Tennessee August night near midnight a party member, Miss Tucker of Deetford, slipped over a cliff while on a mountain trip. Sidney Cowan of Nashville sprang to aid and held the fall briefly as both landed on a 30 to 40 foot ice ledge. Miss Tucker bled and was unconscious yet conscious enough to cling to Cowan as he kept her from going over the edge three feet from a 100 foot drop before rescuers reached them. Cowan held the girl’s clothing and a clump of berries as the party recovered them.

Secretary Shaw sacks Treasury clerk over racing scheme

Man's suicide after family divorce ends tragedy in Omahe
