County launches local counseling office in courthouse basement
Lutheran Social Services will run counseling for Washington County residents starting Sept. two days weekly at the courthouse basement. Elizabeth Mills will advise on a sliding scale with hourly rates from one to ninety dollars. The service aims to cover individual marriage and family needs with partial county subsidy and broad non denominational access.

Two Cleveland Heights youths were killed by lightning as a summer storm lashed Cleveland Ohio. Floods and high winds damaged streets flooded basements and a zoo while Coast Guard and police rescued motorists and a 9 year old girl was swept into a manhole presumed dead.

Fewer pupils enrolled on opening day
First day enrollment in Washington Community District schools is down slightly this year. Supt. E. K. Schlapkohl reports 2,104 students on the first day of the 1975 76 term, down from 2,165 last term. The drop includes 54 fewer resident students. kindergarten will gain a half time teacher and five classes of about 22.

Miss runoff candidates vanish on private plane flight

Ground fog and a severe thunderstorm delayed searches by Civil Air Patrol and highway patrol helicopters near Newton and Forest counties.
